Plea of the Petitioners
The petitioners are of the view that according to law there is no age bar for those who want to take admission in Aurveda and Unani medical colleges. However, according to the NEET eligibility criteria, the candidate should not be more than 25 years old.
Moreover, nowhere it is mentioned that it is mandatory to have English in Class XII,while such a parameter has been laid down under NEET. The petitioners also pleaded that if a candidate wants to take admission in a Unani college, the law makes Urdu language mandatory, however, NEET does not carry any test to assess the knowledge of Urdu.
A  number of students who clear the NEET exam are not able to take admission in Ayurveda colleges and Unani medical colleges.
