Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta is conducting CAT 2018, in two slots at 374 test centers spread across 147 cities in the country. The first slot of CAT 2018 (09:00 AM to 12:00 PM) has been concluded. As the exam get concludes, this what candidates, who have appeared for the entrance exam has to say about it:
CAT 2018 Slot 1 Exam Review
As per the candidates who appeared for the CAT 2018 session, there were no technical glitches in the examination, the exam went smoothly. Candidates informed that they have to answer a total of 100 questions, out of which 34 were from m VARC section, 32 were from DI LR and 34 from Quantitively section. Candidates found DILR as the toughest section. While Quantitative was easiest among the three which carried arithmetic question more. Talking about the Verbal and RC, they were moderately difficult. So, talking about the overall analysis, it is found out that the overall difficulty level of the paper was slightly easier.
When Will Second Slot Commence?
CAT 2018 second phase will start from 02:30 PM till 05:30 PM. Candidates appearing for the second session are suggested to reach the examination centre before the allotted time, to avoid the hassle.
What Will be Cutoff?
If we look at the first slot analysis, it is expected that CAT 2018 cutoff may go up till 99 and 95%. Speaking about Section – I, the cutoff of 95% is expected to be 57-59, for Section-II it may go till 29-31, and the cut off for Section III, it shall be 55-57.
Comparison From Last Year
If we ok at last year exam, CAT 2018 was on the easier side. Not only this, non-engineers may get a benefit from lower difficulty in Quant section. But cutoff is expected to go up in comparison to the last year. However, it candidates have prepared well and attempted 24, 14 and 24 in VARC, DILR, and Quant respectively with around 90% accuracy can score around 95 percentile easily.
