The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will be conducting CA July 2020 examinations from July 29 to August 16, 2020. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic rising, many CA students have requested ICAI to cancel the examinations for this session. Following this, ICAI has decided to give students a choice to ‘opt-out’ from CA July 2020 session. Therefore, CA students can log in to the official website and, select the ‘opt-out’ option and save their choices. The last date to select the opt-out option is June 27.
How to select ‘opt-out’ option for CA July 2020 examinations?
CA students can log in on the website as under:
Go to the official website of ICAI – icaiexam.icai.org
Click on Login/ Register in the main tab and, enter login ID and password
Candidates need to click on ‘opt-out’ declaration option and fill the details
Click on ‘Save’ and exit the applicant login for ICAI examinations.
What happens after I ‘opt-out’ from CA July 2020 examinations?
The students who will opt-out or choose to not appear for the examination in July cycle will be exempted and, they can register to appear for CA November 2020 examinations accordingly. The students who have registered only for one group can apply for additional groups as well in November however, they only need to pay the fee for the additional group. They need not pay the examination fees for the group that they applied to appear in CA July 2020 cycle. ICAI will carry forward the fees for the next cycle.
The official notification released by ICAI stated –
“On successful submission of declaration form online towards para 2 and 3 above, the candidature of the student for May 2020 Examination Cycle will be cancelled and he/she will be shifted to the next Examination Cycle. Students may note that Option for “Opt-out” once taken will be treated as final and no request for its change will be entertained under any circumstances”
Furthermore, Intermediate (Integrated Professional Course) [IPCE-Old Course] will be extended for one more attempt i.e. November 2020 Examination cycle.”
