HRD Ministry launches LEAP, ARPIT for developing Good Teachers

NEW DELHI : In an endeavour to enhance the quality of teachers, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) launched Leadership for Academicians Programme, LEAP and Annual Refresher Programme In Teaching, ARPIT. The programme was launched by Minister of State for Human Resource Development Satya Pal Singh.

Objective of LEAP and ARPIT

The primary aim of this programme is to develop good teachers who will play a pivotal role in developing competence and confidence. Another objective of the two programmes is to prepare next level of leaders who would play a bigger role in the near future.

Duration of the Programmes

Leadership for Academicians Programme ( LEAP) is of three weeks and during this period teachers will be trained for second level academic functionaries in government funded higher academic institutions.

Meanwhile, ARPIT is aimed at online professional development of fifteen lakh faculty for higher education. In order to execute ARPIT, 75 discipline-specific institutions have been identified and they are termed as National Resource Centres during the first phase.
