AHEMDABAD: Indian Institute of Management, Ahemdabad has recently announced that they have reduced the CAT 2018 percentile for selection of candidates for next stage of selection. In the past also, IIM- A had taken steps to increase diversity of their classes and increase the intake of non-technical students. According to IIM-A, candidates will now have to get an overall 80 percentile and a minimum of 70 percentile in each section.
Stages for Selection to IIM -A
There are two stages for selection of candidates who will be offered admission to IIM- A. According to the first stage, the candidate will have to clear the CAT exam. After meeting the requisite criteria, the shortlisted candidate will have to take part in the next stage of the selection process which comprises of Academic Writing Test (AWT) and a Personal Interview (PI). The final merit list is prepared on the basis of candidate’s performance in CAT, AWT score and how well the candidate performed in personal interview.
Parameters for Selection Criteria of CAT
The CAT percentile is considered to be a qualifier and if the candidate scores high percentile, then in such a case, their application rating would be high. The table given below explains the rating, marks allocated on the basis of their academic performance.

|Rating Score C||Graduation||This category is divided into 7 sub-categories and the rating is given according to the parameters listed below. The seven sub-categories are AC 1 to AC 7.|

Based on the above parameters, the application rating for all three is AA, AB and AC scores are added and then they are normalised.
