IIT Delhi awards degree to more than 2000 students at 49th convocation

IIT Delhi felicitated 2, 0164 students at 49th convocation which was held on November 3, 2018. The chief guest at the convocation was Former Chairperson of Thermax Limited Anu Aga.
Break up of students who were awarded degree 
Out of the total 2,0164 students who were given the degree, there were 429 women and 1,635 men. Meanwhile, 378 students were given PhD degree and this was 20% more as compared to last year. Addressing the gathering, IIT-Delhi Director, V Ramgopal Rao stated that more than 60 per cent of the students who were registered at IIT-Delhi were pursuing either Masters of PhD.

The following candidates were given awards for their accomplishments:
  • President’s Gold Medal – Rajesh Kumar (B.Tech Mechanical Engineering)
  • Director’s Gold Medal – Sanjana Garg (B.Tech Chemical Engineering)
  • Dr Shanker Dayal Sharma Gold Medla – Parisksheet Pareek (M.Tech Student)
Anu Aga Calls For Addressing social problems of India 
Chief Guest Anu Aga, while addressing the students asked then to take upon themselves the responsibility to address some of India’s social problems through personal involvement.  She urged the students to accomplish their goals in life through ethical means.
