The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have witnesses an increase in the pre-placement offers as compared to previous years. According to reports in the media, most of the pre- placement offers have been sectors such as analytics, research and development, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), consulting and finance.
Pre-placement offer at IIT- Delhi
According to IIT-Delhi placement cell official, in 2017, IIT-Delhi had received 180 pre-placement offers, out of which 90 were accepted. In 2018, the institute has already received 151 offers and more are in offing. In the coming month, the figure of pre-placement offers will increase further and will be far better as compared to last year. Most of the offers are from the information and technology sector.
Pre-Placement offer at IIT-Madras
Professor Manu Santhanam, advisor, training and placement Cell is of the view that the rise in the number of pre-placement offers is indicates the value attached by recruiters to the internship programmes. In 2017, IIT-Madras had received 114 PPOs and in 2018, 130 students have been offered job till now.
Pre-placement offer at IIT-Bombay
IIT Bombay has also witnessed rise in the pre-placement offers. In 2017, 142 pre-placement offers were made, out of which 100 were accepted. Meanwhile, in 2018, by the end of October, approximately, 162, job offers were made and others are in the pipeline. Speaking about the placements, IIT-Bombay official stated before the official commencement of placement, students are approached by the companies with job offers. It is upto the students to accept the offer or wait to get something better through official placements.
