NEW DELHI: Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB) has announced the first stage result of RRB ALP 2018 on November 2 in online mode. The exam was conducted on September 4, which was rescheduled from August 9. With the declaration of result, what big came into highlight is that over 80% of candidates are not able to qualify the examination. If we look that the official figures, RRB ALP was conducted for around 47.56 lakh candidates.
After the analysis of the result it came out that 37,90,435 candidates failed qualify the examination which means that only 20% candidates were able to made it to RRB ALP 2018 second stage.
Further, the official reports states that exam conducting body has shortlisted candidates, or appearing in the second stage computer based test (CBT), 15 times the total number of vacancies. So, on calculating it’s clear that 9, 65,565 candidates have qualified in the first stage.
To make it more simple and easy to understand, here is the calculation. The figure 9.65 lakh corresponds to the 20% qualified candidates. For recruitment year 2018-19, RRBs have announced 64,371. And if we look at the figures it is clear that the total number of 9, 65,565 qualified candidates is more than 64,371 vacancies.
How Is Result Prepared?
The austerities prepared the result for the first stage after normalizing the scores, as the examination is held in multiple sessions. As there are different sets of question for different exam slots, therefore to ensure fairness, the scores of candidates are normalized.
What About Unreserved Category?
Looking at the result announced, it was clear that unreserved category candidates with at least 40% marks or more in the first stage exam cleared the examination for second stage. Further, candidates belonging to OBC and SC category who have secured a minimum of 30% marks or more are shortlisted. Taking about ST candidates, having at least 25% marks made them qualify for second stage. However, for PwD candidates qualifying percentage may be relaxed by 2%, in case if there is a shortage of PWD candidates against the vacancies reserved for them.
When Will Second Stage RRB ALP 2018 Held?
The second stage exam of RRB ALP will be conducted from December 12 to 14, which was earlier scheduled for November 19. Candidates who have qualified first stage examination will be eligible to appear for the exam. The second stage exam will be held in 2 parts – part A and B for 2.30 hours. Out of the 9, 65,565 candidates, 5,14,968 candidates are shortlisted for the document verification, which is 8 times the number of total vacancies. In order to qualify the second stage exam, candidates across all categories will have to score at least 35% marks.
